Lake Pepin and the surrounding wooded and rock face bluffs is arguably one of the most beautiful natural wonders in the United States.
Located in the Upper Mississippi River Valley, Lake Pepin is actually the widening of the Mississippi as it makes its way through Minnesota/Wisconsin on its thousand mile journey to the Gulf of Mexico.
The charming river towns that were established along the Pepin corridor in the early to mid 1800's have endured to become destinations for residents of the Twin Cities of St. Paul/Minneapolis and cities further south and east.
Dominated by the intense beauty of the area many have established second homes or weekend retreats from which to enjoy the many activities these river town communities provide. Bay City, Maiden Rock, Stockholm, Pepin and Nelson on the Wisconsin shore are popular destinations, while Red Wind, Frontenac and Lake City have appeal on the Minnesota shore.
